Toilet and Faucet Replacement in North Wilmington, DE
- New Toilets and Faucets
- Slow Flow Diagnosed
- Stops, Lines and Flanges Checked
Jimmy looks it over in person, and the written price follows.

A faucet that suddenly runs at half strength, or a toilet that refills slowly, can look like a fixture at the end of its life. Sometimes it is, and sometimes the cause is in the pipe that feeds it. In North Wilmington homes, Jimmy Grubb works out which fixtures need replacing before a new fixture is priced, and when the answer is a new toilet or faucet, he installs it.

Clog, Wear or Age: What a Slow Fixture Is Telling You
Main breaks in North Wilmington and the grit they leave behind
Parts of North Wilmington and the wider Brandywine Hundred get their water from Veolia (formerly Suez), while other parts get it from the City of Wilmington. Both systems have issued boil-water advisories here after main breaks: Suez in 2017 and again in 2022, and the City in 2023 while it repaired a break on Carr Road. When a broken main is fixed and refilled, sediment and scale shaken loose inside the pipe can travel to the first fine screen they meet. In a house, that is the aerator at a faucet spout or the inlet screen on a toilet's fill valve. So when a fixture slows after an advisory, those are checked and cleaned before anything is replaced.
When the slowdown is the fixture itself
Timing and pattern separate a clog from a worn fixture. Debris arrives all at once, so the flow drops overnight, on hot and cold alike. A worn cartridge fades over months, or shows up on one side only, or arrives with a handle that drags or drifts after you let go. In a toilet, a fill valve at the end of its life refills slowly and keeps hissing even when its inlet is clear. Cracks in the tank or bowl mean the toilet itself is done. A base that rocks indicates the flange or floor beneath it is checked before the toilet is reset or replaced. A new toilet comes from American Standard or Moen.
A faucet can also wear and collect grit at the same time, and an aerator that clogs again a few days after it was rinsed is a sign that loose material is still working its way through the line or the cartridge itself. That is when Jimmy looks past the clog. A faucet with a corroded body, a base that leaks under the counter, or a spout that can no longer be tightened is ready for replacement, regardless of the flow test results.
Grit that gets past a toilet's inlet screen can also lodge under the fill valve's seal and keep the toilet running, which looks like a worn valve. A tank that started running on the day the water came back on points to grit, and one that has run on and off for months points to wear.
Measuring the sink before a new faucet
When a faucet does need replacing, the holes in the sink are counted and measured first, so the new one from Moen, Delta, or Kohler fits the sink you already have.

| Cartridge | Turned through its range to feel for drag before choosing a new faucet. | Faucet |
| Toilet base | Rocked by hand; flange and floor checked if it moves. | Toilet |
| Faucet holes | Counted and measured, so the new faucet suits the sink. | Faucet |

Slow Water, New Fixtures and the Utility
A problem in the street would show at more than one tap. One slow faucet points to its own aerator, cartridge, or stop, and those are what Jimmy looks at first.
A slow hot side indicates the hot half of the cartridge or the supply from the water heater. Jimmy checks which one it is at the visit.
Many bathroom faucets come with a matching pop-up drain. Whether the old one stays or the new one goes in depends on its condition and how it looks next to the new faucet, and Jimmy goes over that with you.
Battery-powered touch and touchless models mount like any other faucet, with the battery pack clipped inside the cabinet. Models that need an outlet under the sink are a different matter, since we don't add new circuits.
The utility named on your water bill. Inside the house, the toilets, faucets, stops, and lines are the part we work on.
What to Expect When Jimmy Comes Out
You tell us when it started
Get in touch by phone or text with which fixture, what it's doing, and whether it changed suddenly or slowly. Say whether other taps in the house slowed at the same time. Active water leaks are the one call we try to reach the same or next day.
The flow test
At the house, the aerator comes off the spout, or the fill valve's inlet screen comes out, and the flow is tried again without it. If cleaning is all it needs, that is a small job: a $100 service call plus $25 for every 15 minutes of work. If it isn't, a new fixture is the next conversation.
The swap
With the supply shut, the old fixture comes out, and any repair you signed off on is finished. Then the new toilet or faucet goes in.
Flow and leak check
The faucet runs at full flow, and the toilet fills and flushes while every joint is watched for weeping.
