35 Years in the Trade. Two Decades in Northern Delaware. Started Precision Home Worx in 2023
About the Owner
Jimmy Grubb spent the 1990s running JL's Painting Service in Virginia — light remodeling and professional coatings — before moving his family to Delaware in 2010. After more than a decade working under another local contractor, he founded Precision Home Worx in 2023 because he wanted to run his own jobs his own way — slower, cleaner, and right the first time.
Jimmy lives in the Concord area and is active at Concord Baptist Church. He works directly with every customer from the first phone call through the final walk-through. No estimators, no subs handed the keys, no surprise charges.
When You Schedule Precision Home Worx — What Actually Happens
We respond within 24–48 hours
Call (302) 321-3577 or fill out the contact form. Jimmy answers the phone directly during business hours (Mon–Sun, 7 AM – 8 PM). For a typical estimate request, you'll have a scheduled in-home visit within about a week. Frozen pipe emergencies are handled the same day whenever possible.
You get a written estimate by email, usually within a week
Flat-rate where possible, hourly where it makes sense ($70/hr for one professional, $100/hr for two). Every selection — fixture, brand, finish — comes with a link so you can see exactly what we're ordering before we order it. The quote is good for 30 days.
Jimmy comes to your home for the estimate — with booties on
Free in-home estimate, no sales pressure. Jimmy brings samples, measuring tools, and a notepad. Booties go on before the front door opens — your home gets treated like a home, not a job site.
On install day, drop cloths and runners go down from your entry to the work area
Standard practice. Your floors, your carpet, your furniture — covered before any tools come out. Shut-off valves get replaced on every appliance or fixture we install, not just the ones that need it. That detail alone separates us from contractors who skip the $25 valve to save 15 minutes.
We walk you through the finished work and back it with a one-year warranty
Work is backed by a comprehensive warranty on workmanship and materials, dated from project completion. If something isn't right — call us. We make it right.
Case study — Kingsridge bathroom remodel (M.P.): "We were selling our home and had several small and large projects to finish before putting it on the market. I had done a few DIY projects, but was falling behind in both time and skill level. We had Precision Home Worx complete a job I couldn't handle. Once we saw the quality, speed, and cleanliness, I realized Jimmy could help us with so much more. He did the job right and so much faster than I could. He remodeled our master bath from the studs out, including a beautiful tile job in our shower, built a new wall in a closet, installed drywall, installed new door casing that perfectly matched existing molding, did ceiling repair, and enclosed skylight openings. Jimmy is a Master craftsman!"
Services Overview
From a $25,000 whole-home window install to a $250 clogged drain — Precision Home Worx covers virtually anything in the home for residential customers across Wilmington, Northern Delaware, and southern Chester County. Every job, big or small, comes with the same standards: drop cloths down, shut-off valves replaced, a one-year warranty, and FREE second opinions.

Why Choose Precision Home Worx?
35+ years in the trade — and Jimmy answers the phone
Most local handymen are either newer operators learning from your project or established companies where you'll never speak with the owner. Jimmy Grubb has been doing residential carpentry, remodeling, and finish work since 1990. When you call (302) 321-3577, that's who picks up. With Precision Home Worx, it's Jimmy from the first phone call to the final walk-through.
Drop cloths and runners go down before any tools come out
It sounds like a small thing. It's not. Most contractors track grit and sawdust across hardwood and carpet, leaving you to clean up after they leave. Every Precision Home Worx job starts with drop cloths from your entry to the work area — your home gets protected, not just your project.
Booties go on before the front door opens, even at the estimate visit.
Shut-off valves are replaced on every install — not just the ones that need it
"It is appalling when other tradesmen will not go the extra mile and install a $25.00 shut-off valve when the existing one is in poor condition." Standard practice on every appliance, fixture, and water heater we install.
When the next plumber visits in five years, they'll find a working valve and a clean install — not a corroded surprise.
Google 5.0 across every verified review — and a 70% repeat-customer rate
Every review on Precision Home Worx's Google profile is verified. No fake reviews, no review-stuffing. 70% of customers hire Jimmy a second time — usually for a different room. That's not a marketing number, that's the actual business.
The Country Gates whole-home window job — 33 windows replaced with United Window Co. vinyl, $33,000 — was a referral from a previous customer. Lower utility bills, much warmer in winter, no drafts.
FREE second opinions — bring us your other quote
Already have a quote from a local competitor? Email it to Jimmy or have him stop by. He'll review it in person, walk through what's included, what's missing, and what looks off. No charge. No pressure. If their quote is the better fit, he'll say so.
Most homeowners don't know what a fair whole-home window quote looks like. Jimmy does.
Higher quality, higher price — and we say so up front
Precision Home Worx is not the cheapest contractor in Northern Delaware. Jimmy's own words from the intake: "We are not the most budget-friendly, but our quality workmanship proves why our prices are higher."
Cheap handyman work costs you twice — once for the installation, once for the rework. The Precision Home Worx standard is finished correctly the first time.
Family-owned, 100% residential, family in the church and the school
Jimmy is active at Concord Baptist Church. His regular spots are Marsh Road diner, Lucky's, and 84 Lumber. He's not a chain. He's not a franchise. He's a neighbor.
This matters more than it should — but it matters because Jimmy will still be picking up the phone five years from now when your warranty issue or your next project comes up.
What to Ask Any Handyman or Remodeler Before You Hire
These seven questions help homeowners hire well — whether you end up calling Precision Home Worx or someone else. Print them, take them to your next estimate.
Can I see your Delaware Department of Revenue license number?
Any DE contractor doing residential work should have one. Verify it at the Delaware Division of Revenue website.
Can I see proof of general liability insurance and a current COI?
If they hire any employees, ask about workers' compensation too — Delaware requires it for any business with one or more employees.
Who will actually do the work?
The same person who gave the estimate, a crew, or a subcontractor? You should know who's in your house and whether they're bonded.
Is the estimate written, itemized, and good for 30 days?
Verbal quotes and "trust me" pricing are red flags. Written estimates protect you.
If I decide not to hire you, is the estimate visit free?
FREE Second opinions and free in-home estimates are standard practice with reputable contractors. High-pressure same-day sales tactics are not.
Do you offer a workmanship warranty?
A material warranty covers the product. A workmanship warranty covers the install. Both matter.
Have you worked on homes from this era before?
Wilmington's pre-1978 housing stock, polybutylene-pipe homes from 1985–1995, and Brandywine Hundred stone foundations each have their own quirks.

Frequently Asked Questions
The range is wide. A vanity-plus-faucet swap is $350. A powder room refresh runs $3,500–$5,000. A full primary bath remodel from the studs out — new tile, shower, vanity, lighting, plumbing — typically lands between $15,000 and $30,000. Jimmy gives you a written, itemized estimate after the in-home visit so you see exactly where every dollar goes.
For frozen-pipe emergencies, we'll usually get to you the same day if we can. For everything else — window repair, faucet leaks, GFIC replacement, door issues — we schedule a visit, typically within a week. We don't promote same-day service for non-emergency calls because rushed work isn't the Precision Home Worx standard.
Yes. Delaware Department of Revenue License #223872998. General liability insurance and an RLI surety bond (#LMS1971327). BBB A+ Accredited (2023). Certificates of insurance are available on request — common for HOAs and property managers.
Yes. Free in-home estimate, free written quote, free second opinions on outside quotes. No sales pressure, no "today-only" discounts. If you don't hire us, the visit still cost you nothing.
Yes — and we know what to look for. Brandywine row homes from the early 1900s, post-war housing in Claymont and Westover Hills, and the polybutylene-pipe homes built between 1985 and 1995 each have their own quirks. Older homes also push pre-1978 lead-paint considerations on any drywall, trim, or window work, which we factor into the estimate.
Not currently. We accept major credit cards, Zelle, checks, and cash. Most customers pay 50% on order and the balance at completion for projects over $5,000.
Our primary focus is residential work, and the majority of our projects are for homeowners across Wilmington. That said, we have completed select commercial and institutional projects, including school entrances and commercial doorways, where the scope was a good fit for our team. If you have a commercial or multi-unit project in mind, get in touch and we'll let you know if it's something we can take on.
Delaware requires anyone doing residential contracting to register with the Delaware Department of Revenue and obtain a business license. Precision Home Worx holds license #223872998 (issued 2023, renewal 2028). You can verify any DE contractor's license at the Delaware Division of Revenue website — just search the license number or business name.
Yes — water damage, storm damage, vandalism repair, and similar small claims. We document findings with photos, write Xactimate-compatible scopes, and coordinate with adjusters from carriers we've worked with, including Allstate, State Farm, Liberty Mutual, and Travelers. The homeowner remains the contractor-of-record and bills the carrier — we don't bill carriers directly. Average claim job is around $20,000
Standard electric and gas water heaters — yes (Rheem and A.O. Smith, 40-gallon and 50-gallon tanks, $1,200–$2,000 installed). Tankless gas water heaters — not currently. If you specifically need a tankless install, we'll refer you to a licensed Delaware plumber.
Our work is backed by a one-year comprehensive warranty dated from project completion. The warranty covers workmanship and the materials we supply. It does not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or modifications by others. Manufacturer warranties on appliances, windows, and fixtures pass through directly to you. If a callback is ever needed, you call Jimmy directly — we handle it from there.
Often, repair is the right call — especially for failed seals (fogged glass), broken sash cords, or rot in a single sash. Whole-home replacement starts making sense when you're seeing failed seals across multiple windows, visible frame rot, or your utility bills are climbing because the seals are gone. Jimmy will walk through your windows with you at the free estimate and give you the honest answer — repair, partial replacement, or whole-home. The Country Gates job (33 windows, $33K) saved that homeowner real money on utility bills; a single rotted-sash repair would have left them paying for it for years.
